Why sceptics remain unconvinced
The main doubt is simple: the case lacks hard proof. There is no confirmed physical trace, no clear photograph, no instrument record, no recovered material and no independent official finding that a craft was present. That does not mean a passed polygraph is meaningless. It may support the idea that a witness believes what he is saying, or that an examiner did not detect deception under the conditions of that test. Later reporting: stronger memory, weaker proof
Later reporting has kept Pascagoula in public view, but it has not fundamentally changed the evidential balance.
