The flying disc announcement and balloon correction

The best-known contemporary Roswell document was not a secret report but a public press release. On 8 July 1947, Roswell Army Air Field announced that personnel from the 509th Bomb Group had recovered a “flying disc” from a ranch in New Mexico.
